ANALYDLC.EXE Analysis program
DLCOUNTF version 3.12 by Bob Landon 12 March 91
Send comments, questions, or un-mitigated praise to Fido 260/210
DLCOUNTF is a derivative of the program DLCOUNT, which records the number
of times a file has been downloaded, displayed and file requested, by
reading the OPUS, Maximus, or Binkley log file and maintaining a file of
data. The data it keeps is the date first downloaded, the last date
it was downloaded and the total number of times it has been downloaded.
Eac time it is run, it generates a report file of the files in its data
file. Run this command before throwing away the user log.
The syntax for the DLCOUNTF program is:
DLCOUNTF <filename> <options>
... where <filename> is the name of your Opus or OPUS/Binkley Log file.
This can be any name and path up to 50 characters long and
must include the extension name. This parameter is required!
and <options> is one or more of the following options. Each option
may be used only once per run. If multiples are
supplied, only the last one will be used. The
use of upper or lower case is irrelevant.
-Sxxxxx_xxxxx to exclude caller name xxxxx_xxxxx from counts
Any blanks in the name should be replaced with
underscores. The name string can be up to 50
characters long. The default is "Bob Landon"
-Rxxxxxxxxxxx to name the output report file
This can be up to 50 characters long, and may
be a fully qualified path. The extension .RPT
will be automatically appended. The default
value is "FILENBR.RPT"
-Dxxxxx to delete files with counts less than xxxxx
This number can range from 0 to 99999, and any
file whose total number of downloads is less than
this value at the end of the run is deleted from
the stored data. BE CAREFUL! If not supplied,
it will default to 0 (save everything).
-Q to suppress screen report, messages
The default is all messages are displayed.
-Z to make .ARC file extensions equal to .ZIP
If you begin using this program and convert to
the .ZIP file compression method, using this
parameter will cause files with .ARC extensions
to be changed to .ZIP when downloaded with the
.ZIP extension. If you don't use the parameter,
the program will create a new entry and will
not include the old counts from the .ARC file
in the .ZIP totals.
-Mx:\xxxxxxxx to suppress a subdirectory from counts
This parameter can be up to 50 chacters long and
represents a text string which if found in the
directory of the log entry will cause the entry
to be ignored. It is suggested that you use this
parameter unless you want to see your outbound
message area files listed! The default value is
"OUTBOUND"
-Lmm/dd/yyyy to delete files not downloaded since mm/dd/yyyy
This parameter will delete files whose last
download (or first if there is no last) occurred
prior to this date. If not provided, it defaults
to 00/00/0000 (keep everything).
Note: This version will create a new database in the
default directory if it can not find the filename
in the current directory. (The name currently used
in version 3.11 is FILENBR.DAT and can not be
changed!)
ANALYDLC version 1.00 by Bob Landon 22 July 89
ANALYDLC is a companion program to DLCOUNTF, which scans the data file
maintained by DLCOUNTF, and lists any file which has a last download
date which is before the input date and which appear on a candidate list
of files to check. The candidate list may be any ascii text file which
contains file names in the first 12 characters of each line. I use two
lists, one is the OK file request list and the other is my offline list.
I can then delete files from offline storage which are not active, and
move inactive online files to offline storage.
The ANALYDLC program version 1.0 uses the following syntax:
ANALYDLC <options>
... where <options> is one or more of the following. Each option may be
used only once per run. If multiple values are
supplied, only the last one will be used. The
use of upper or lower case is irrelevant.
-Snnnnnnnn.xxx name of the file of names to check
This can be up to 50 characters long and
should be path qualified. It should contain
in the first 12 positions of each entry, the
name of a file found on the BBS. I use the
list of files available for file requests.
The default is "OKDATA.DAT"
-Onnnnnnnn name of the DLCOUNTF datafile
Any file name, including path and drive is
acceptable up to 50 characters. The default
is "FILENBR" The extension is supplied by the
program (.DAT) This must be the file created
by DLCOUNTF.
-Rxxxxxxxx name of the output report
The name the text formatted report is to use.
This file name can be up to 50 characters long,
and may include a drive and path. The program
will append the extension .RPT to the name. It
defaults to "FILENBR"
-Dmm/dd/yyyy last download date to use
Files selected have a last download date which
is before this date. It defaults to 01/01/1980.
-Q to suppress screen report, messages
These programs are released to the public domain in the same spirit as the
OPUS CBCS software is. It is warranteed to take up disk space and kill
your hard drive. Please use them in a friendly manner. DLCOUNTF v3.1 and
ANALYDLC were written in Turbo Pascal v5.5. I will cheerfully accept bug
reports and/or comments on my Board.
